VALLEY UROLOGICAL ASSOCIATES OPENS NEW OFFICE
Aliquippa represents third location for medical practice specializing in comprehensive care for urinary tract problems.
SEWICKLEY, PA., SEPTEMBER 29, 2009 -- Valley Urological Associates in Sewickley, a medical practice that provides comprehensive care for conditions related to male and female urinary tract problems, has opened a new office in Aliquippa. Robert W. Doebler, M.D., F.A.C.S., founder of the practice, made the announcement. The new office at 1 Hospital Drive in Aliquippa is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and office visits are scheduled on Mondays and Thursdays. Appointments can be made by calling the office at 724-375-6661. The practice has a third office location in Kennedy Township.
"We've opened this office as a convenience to new patients who live in Beaver County, as well as nearby communities in Ohio and West Virginia," said Dr. Doebler. "Our Aliquippa office is just 30 to 45 minutes from places like East Liverpool, Steubenville, Weirton and many other communities, and there are comparatively few urology physicians in these areas," added Doebler.
Established in 1981, Valley Urological Associates has been on the forefront of sophisticated medical and surgical treatments for urology conditions affecting men and women.
"We care for patients experiencing wide-ranging urology-related conditions, from problems created by enlarged prostates in men, to incontinence in women, various cancers associated with the urinary tract and reproductive organs in men, and many other issues," commented Doebler. He explained that Valley Urological Associates takes a comprehensive approach in evaluating and addressing patients' conditions, utilizing the most up-to-date diagnostic and treatment procedures. As an example, he described the approach he and his associate, David A Corral, M.D., F.A.C.S., take when providing care to men with symptoms associated with enlarged prostates, also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH. Valley Urological Associates was among the first in the region to utilize proven procedures involving heat and laser treatments, and both physicians continue to evaluate new methods that show promise for treating this condition that affects half of all men age 50 and older.
"Each patient is unique," said Doebler, "and so we tailor our plan of care to meet their individual needs. We have a large number of tools at our disposal to treat various conditions. Sometimes it is appropriate simply to monitor the patient over time--in the case of BPH, we call this 'watchful waiting.' Of course, we have options for treating patients with medication, as well as a range of minimally invasive in-office and outpatient procedures or traditional surgery.
"It's very important that patients understand that they don't need to 'put up' with bothersome symptoms, or that their condition is simply a part of the normal aging process," continued Doebler. "All too often I see patients who have postponed seeking treatment for the symptoms of BPH or incontinence, for example. There is no reason for individuals to suffer in silence--in most cases their symptoms can be treated effectively, or the underlying cause of their problem eliminated entirely."
