MEET OUR NEW DOCTOR!

Valley Urological Associates welcomes Jonas Gricius, M.D.

Dr. Jonas Gricius, (pronounced like “Gritz-uhs”) who joined the practice in July, brings outstanding experience in urology care, particularly in stone disease and cancer treatment. Inspired to enter the field of medicine by his father, himself a urologist, Dr. Gricius is fluent in Lithuanian, Russian, and English, and is excited to be a part of the Valley Urological Associates family.

“I am very happy to be working alongside Dr. Doebler, Dr. Corral, and Mr. Burns and Mrs. Wasson. I am confident that my experience and interests will help me make a positive impact on our patients and their quality of life,” said Dr. Gricius.

“I understand how challenging and difficult it can be for patients to seek care for urological problems. They want to be treated like people, not a medical code or a number on a chart. From the patient’s perspective it’s obviously a very personal, intimate matter to discuss such issues with a stranger. It takes a great deal of trust, and I repay that trust by acknowledging my patients’ concerns, listening to their questions, and caring for them in a respectful manner,” he added.

“It’s gratifying when I can see the change that a person, one of my patients, experiences when we have been able to resolve a problem that they may have had to endure for months or even years. Seeing the impact on people is very meaningful. That’s why I went into medicine; that’s why I love what I do,” concluded Dr. Gricius.

Dr. Gricius earned his medical degree at the Vilnius University School of Medicine in Vilnius in 1996. He completed his internship in general medicine and residency in general surgery at Vilnius University Hospital System, and a residency in urology at the State University of New York Upstate Medical University in Syracuse from 2005 to 2011. He is board eligible in urology, and sat for the examination in July, which is administered by the American Board of Urology.

Among his personal interests, Dr. Gricius enjoys piano, culinary arts, and singing, and was a member of a choir in Lithuania that toured nationally. He and his wife, Pasaka, who is a board-certified pediatrician, live with their three children in Franklin Park.
